All State and Territories within Australia have Electrical Legislation that state that an employer must ensure that specified electrical equipment is regularly and properly inspected, tested and tagged ‘safe’. Only a person deemed competent can do this. The employer or self-employed person is responsible for determining that the person who carries out the inspection, and the Test and Tag of electrical equipment has the required competencies.
Stemming from a notable need for an expedient, reliable and professional Test and Tag service and the apparent lack of awareness in the business community to the legal (both Civil and Criminal) implications of ignoring the various State Electrical Safety Acts, Brad’s Test and Tag was formed to fill this requirement and to service these needs.
In addition to State and Territory Electrical Safety Regulations the Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Act states that if you are an employer, self employed person and any person lending an appliance to another person that you have a duty of care under Common Law and the OH&S Act to ensure that the equipment or appliance is safe. If the item is not safe and causes an accident both the Employer and the person supplying the equipment could be held liable.
